Daniel Kay

Battery Coordinator
Daniel is a tenor instructor from Norco, California with a decade of drumming experience.  He has worked with drumlines across Southern California, notably the RCC Marching Tigers and Gold Drum and Bugle Corps. He currently teaches the San Bernardino District Drumline and Upland High School.  Daniel began his DCI career at Watchmen, and went on to march with Gold, Blue Knights, and Bluecoats, as well as the RCC Marching Tigers, POW, and Broken City.  He has a passion for the marching arts and helping students achieve their goals. 


Ariane Ortiz

Snare Technician
Ariane is an educator based in the Central Valley. She has been involved in multiple percussion programs since graduating from Clovis High School in 2016, such as Edison High School, Clark Intermediate, Clovis High School, Red Wave Indoor and Gold Drum and Bugle Corp. 

As a performer Ariane has been a member of Orange County Independent 2017, Vessel Percussion 2018-2020, Red Wave Indoor 2022, and Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corp 2019.

Outside of music, Ariane is currently a Fresno State student pursuing a degree in B.S Business Administration – Finance with an Option in Artificial Intelligence. 


Ivan Sanchez

Snare Technician
Over the last decade, Ivan has been an active performer/ educator in the Southern California region. He currently resides in Santa Ana, California and recently graduated from California State University, Fullerton where he pursued a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. Ivan has performed for various ensembles such as Golden Empire Drum & Bugle Corps, Odyssey Indoor Percussion, Vessel Percussion, and Dark Sky Percussion. He is now a current staff member at Chino High School, Rancho Alamitos High School, and most recently taught at Gold Drum & Bugle Corps.


Cris Vista

Snare Technician
Cris Vista has been involved in the marching arts since 2010. He had the privilege of performing with Ayala High School (2015-2019), Sacramento Mandarins (2019-2022), Vessel Percussion (2020-2022), and Broken City 2023.

His passion for teaching began with Canyon Hills Jr. High School in 2018, and then went to become the Percussion/Visual Caption Head for Serrano High School in 2021.

He is currently the Battery Arranger and Show Designer for Serrano, as well as being a Battery Instructor for South Hills High School.

Outside of the performing arts, Cris is in his last year pursuing a Bachelor’s in Educational Studies at the University of La Verne.


Sebastian Delgado

Snare Technician
Sebastian is an active percussion educator, designer, and performer residing in Fullerton, California. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from California State University Fullerton and has performed with various marching ensembles such as Blue Devils B Drum Corp, Vessel Percussion, and Broken City Percussion.


Mietron Shahbodaghloo

Tenor Technician
Mietron is a tenor instructor from Woodland Hills, California with more than a decade of drumming experience. He has worked with various drumlines across Southern California, most recently Impulse Indoor and Westlake HS. Mietron began his marching career with Watchmen, and went on to march with the Mandarins, Bluecoats, and Broken City. He currently works as a biologist for the US Geological Survey and teaches private lessons in Southern California. Mietron has a true appreciation of helping students along their journey in realizing their marching goals.


Henry Ives

Tenor Technician
Henry has been fortunate to learn from some of the most innovative educators and designers in the activity, including at the Sacramento Mandarins, Blue Knights, and Broken City. In 2022 he served as tenor section leader for Broken City, earning a WGI Bronze Medal. He was tenor instructor at Etiwanda High School for the 2020 winter and (virtual) fall seasons.

Henry obtained his Bachelor of Music in Composition and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Colorado State University. He is currently pursuing his Master of Fine Arts in Composition and Experimental Sound Practices at the California Institute of the Arts.


Sebastian Broman

Bass Technician
Sebastian is from Vista, California and now lives in Westminster California where he teaches at Los Amigos High School. His marching experience includes Gold 2014-15, Pacific Crest 2016, Blue Devils B 2017, and Broken City 2016-17.


Jonathan Calderon

Bass Technician
Originally from Southern California, Jonathon has marched all through out the Golden State from Northern California with Blue Devils B, all the way down to San Diego with Gold Drum and Bugle Corps and every way in-between. His love for the Arts pushed him to March 2 years with RCC Fall on Snare and Bass, as well as age out on Bass during the inaugural year of Brokencity in 2016. He looks forward to working with the staff at Gold and pushing the program to new heights!

Darrel Burns

Visual Technician
Darrel Burns is a visual specialist, drill writer and designer based in the Inland Empire.  He has been training and encouraging young performers in the SoCal band world since 2013, drawing upon experience gained from both Open and World Class ensembles (Velvet Knights, Academy, Blue Devils) paired with continued study in the areas of leadership, fitness and dance. 

Darrel has proudly served several high-level ensembles throughout San Diego County and the Inland Empire, including Open Class Finalist Meraki Percussion and Dark Sky Percussion as well as 2-time silver medal recipient Gold Drum and Bugle Corps. 

While away from the floor or field, Darrel can be found snapping photos, studying or simply enjoying life with his wife Skyler and their two cats.


Johnny Jagerman

Visual Technician
Johnny Jagerman is a visual designer and instructor based in Southern California. For the last 10 years, Johnny has instructed many high achieving Scholastic ensembles, including Ayala High School, Etiwanda High School, Trabuco Hills High School, Fountain Valley High School, as well as independent ensembles including: Meraki Percussion, Dark Sky Percussion and the Madison Scouts. Johnny has also been a Drill Writer and Visual Designer for ensembles such as Catalyst Percussion, Meraki Percussion, Mission Viejo High School and Bonita High School. 

Johnny’s performance experience includes, 1 season with Gold Drum Corps, 1 with Santa Clara Vanguard, 3 with The Blue Devils, 3 with Pulse Percussion and 1 with Broken City Percussion 

Johnny previously taught both Gold Drum Corps and Indoor Percussion until 2019. Johnny is ecstatic to be making his return to Gold Youth Arts Organization
