GOLD Experience and Audition – 12/17-12/18, 2022

We are just 2 days away from our first GOLD Experience and Audition Event for the 2023 season! Below are some updates and other important information for this weekend’s event.

WHAT TO BRING TO AUDITIONS

  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Your own equipment. If possible, please bring your own Horn/mouthpiece, drum, sticks/mallets, flag/rifle to ensure you have something to use throughout the audition weekend. GOLD instruments and equipment will be available, but we often have more attendees than available instruments.
  • Pencil and 3-ring binder with inserts to hold music (for brass and percussion).
  • Printed copies of audition packet music.
  • Workout clothing.
  • Athletic/trail shoes – Dance shoes for guard.
  • Water jug (minimum ½ gallon).
  • A baseball cap or hat.
  • Sunscreen.
  • BRING A FRIEND! Do you have a friend that is interested in marching this summer? Remind them to register ASAP at JoinGold.org, or just bring them along to sign up at the event.

CHECK IN PROCEDURES

  • The check in table will be located at the Performing Arts Center on the southeast corner of campus.
  • You will receive an audition T-Shirt and audition credentials – Please plan on wearing them during the entire event weekend. This helps identify GOLD participants and helps everyone to get to know each other!
  • Proceed to the photo station to have your participant photo taken. Please remove any jackets and sweatshirts and wear your audition shirt for the photo.
  • Parents and family members can proceed directly into the theater for the 9am full corps and parent meeting. A limited amount of Gold merchandise will be available for purchase.

10:00 am – Morning Rehearsals Begin
1:00 pm – Lunch (GOLD Provided, Parents Welcome)
2:00 pm – Rehearsals Continue
5:00 pm – Full Corps Meeting
5:30 pm – Clean Up
6:30 pm – Students Clear Campus

SUNDAY 12/18/2022
8:30 am – Check in Begins (Performing Arts Center)
8:45 am – Leadership Meeting
9:00 am – Rehearsals Begin
12:30 pm – Lunch (GOLD Provided)
1:30 pm – Rehearsals Continue
5:00 pm – Full Corps Meeting
5:45 pm – Clean Up
6:30 pm – Students Clear Campus


DRUM MAJOR / SECTION LEADER CANDIDATES

All Drum Major and section leader candidates need to arrive at 7:30 am on Saturday morning to help with check in set up. Brass Caption Head Bill Fritz will also be giving you instructions on what facilities and areas of campus the corps will be using during auditions.


PREPARE FOR WEATHER

The weather in Eastvale can go from cold to hot to cold, with rain, wind and bright sunlight, all in the same day. Make sure you have clothing for all weather conditions.


PARENTS

Please plan on joining us for the Full Corps Meeting on Saturday from 9 – 10 a.m. We will have staff members and parents of our veteran members available after the meeting to answer any questions you may have! Feel free to stay to help with lunch setup and equipment maintenance, and join us for lunch from 1 – 2 pm!
