Please wear clothes that allow you to move and perform at your best. Also plan for all types of weather conditions, rain, heat and everything in between. Also avoid wearing any clothing that has large logos or any inappropriate images or language.

Brass should bring their own mouthpieces, valve oil, and their own instruments if possible. We do have instruments to loan for those who don’t have access to instruments especially the larger baritones and contras.

Percussion should bring their own sticks and mallets. It is highly recommended that snare, tenor, and even bass drummers bring their own instruments with stands/harnesses when possible and also practice pads. Front ensemble equipment will be provided.

Color Guard should bring a rifle or sabres if they plan to audition for those sections of the guard. We will have flags and have loaner rifles and sabres for those that don’t have their own.

There is no overnight housing at Valhalla High School. For those in need of housing in the San Diego area, please let use know when you check in Saturday morning. We will try to pair you up with a local family or member who can house you.

If you live in the San Diego area and can house people on Saturday night, please let us know at check in or email Darcy Johnson to let her know how many people you can house.

We will be hosting a parent information meeting on Saturday morning to help answer any questions parents may have about GOLD. There will be coffee and donuts and lots of good information to share.

We have a really busy weekend ahead and we need volunteers to help, with serving meals, equipment repair, and the hundreds of other tasks that will make GOLD 2019 a success. Any friends or family members who want to help, just stop by the check in table on Saturday or Sunday morning and let us know that you want to volunteer. Your help is greatly needed and appreciated.

For those individuals who have school events (concerts, parades etc.) and must miss part or all of this weekend’s GOLD experience event, please email assistant corps director Tyler Johnson to let him know about your conflicts. He will try to make sure you receive any materials and information you may miss.

Your high school or college band program events are your priority. Once you’ve finished your obligations to your home program, please travel safely to GOLD.
